- The main theme for the book was about feeding the "content monster". According to the book there are two ways of doing this. One by content creation and the other by content curation. Both of these play huge roles in feeding the content monster. In the art of social media you must feed the social media monster if you want to stay relevant or be successful. The book pretty much explains to the reader how to share content and what kind of content to share based on your consumer.
- I liked the book I thought it is definitely something someone should learn about if they want to be successful in this new social media world. Everyone uses social media well at least the people that would be buying my product would definitely be using it.
- The exercise I would have the class do after reading the book were to go online to one of their social media accounts and feed the content monster three different times and tell the class what they fed the content monster and why.
- My aha moment would have been when the author was talking about sharing content that it must have a connection to whatever it is you are sharing because if you are just sharing stuff people will get bored with it and stop following you.

I read the same book. It was actually a good read and I was surprised a little bit. I like how it broke down each category into smaller sections and further defined it. In our age, social media marketing is so key in the promotion of a product. You almost can't successfully make something without having some sort of social media. I like you aha moment. Mine was kind of similar in that there needs to be a variation in the stuff you post as well as their needs to be posts for different segments of people in your database.
ReplyDeleteHello Clayton,
ReplyDeleteWhile I think that you did a great job with your post, as you throughly explained the main themes and talking points from the book itself, I definitely do not ever want to feed the "content monster." When reading your post, I imagine that working for the social media industry is like living in a constant pressure filed atmosphere that one worries all the time about entertaining others. This mindset really concerns me because I think one should strive to be happy themselves. Great post!
Hey Clayton,
ReplyDeleteI chose a different book to read but found your summary of its plot and points of view to be different from what I had read and learned about. I like how it focused on the social media marketing aspect because I found it to be real and true. I think that people use social media as a source of relevancy, popularity and finally as a form of security.

Great post, Clayton! Your book definitely sounds like a good read because social media is so prevelant in our everyday lives. Whether it be for business or social purposes, social media is something that everyone in our generation is expected to use. I thought the idea of the content monster was very interesting and that aha moment definitely makes sense because quality over quantity.
