- What surprised me the most was how many times they had to try before succeeding at flying. What I most admired about them was there dedication and commitment to flying. What I least admired was that we never hear about the sister who helped contribute to helping them fly. Yes they encountered adversity and failure. When this did happen they just came together and pushed through and kept chugging along until they were finally able to make it work.
- Some competencies that I noticed the entrepreneurs uses were the mechanical skills and being able to make things work with little money and not having big funds from donors.
- A confusing part to me was why nobody wanted to invest in the wright brothers. After reading the book it seemed like why would you not invest in them. They were extremely smart and mechanical inclined.
- I would ask what made them want to invent that? Also how scared were they each time they flew a new device?
- I believe that they had a strong opinion on hard work and thought that they would not be where they were if it was not for all the hard work they put in. I would have to agree with their opinion. I also share it.

13A- Reading Reflection No.1

I like how all of your entries get rich to the point. Very concise. I too read the Wright Brothers book and had the same fascinations and questions. My questions were if they ever thought that they thought about how they were changing the making of the world with their invention and how scared they were each time. Flying on one of those makeshift planes was very unsafe. They could have easily died riding around on them. They didn't even have wheels on the first times that they were flown, they would just crash as lightly as possible.
ReplyDeleteHaving such a strong partnership as a family definitely seemed to help them! Your questions are interesting and I especially like number four; I would have been petrified flying a new machine but maybe they had confidence in their designs? Maybe it seemed too far-fetched at the time that someone could fly and that's why nobody chose to invest in them?
ReplyDeleteHey Clayton,
ReplyDeleteWhile I like the conciseness of your posts, I would recommend entering the title of the book that you read so that people who are reading your post know what you are talking about when reading. Anyways, the Wright Brothers are awesome. I bet they were very scared since they had never seen a flying object before, and then they invented it. The feeling of taking off the ground must have been terrifying. Personally, if I was there, I would be very scared that the plane would stop working all of a sudden and fall to my death. Great post.
