6A- Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends
- I had heard that President Trump had lowered the taxes on corporations in the US thus causing more business to happen.
- I found this article on the internet to support that opportunity.https://www.trade.gov/investamerica/.
- The reason why I believe that this opportunity exist is because tariffs are being placed on other countries and their goods. Thus meaning people will be buying less of foreign goods and buying more domestic products because of the price difference. So there is an opportunity to invest in domestic products. The most likely customers will be investors or new entrepreneurs that want to start their own company in the USA. I think this opportunity is relatively difficult because you don't truly know what exactly to invest in just that the USA is going to be a good place to invest in because of trade wars.
- I pay lots of attention to politics so I believe I saw this opportunity and much of my generation does not listen to talk radio or read news so I notice things that others do not.
- Another economic trend opportunity would be in marketing of alcohol at SEC football stadiums.
- I saw on Facebook today that they lifted the ban on sales of alcohol in SEC stadiums. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/sec-lifts-ban-on-alcohol-sales-allows-schools-to-decide-on-selling-beer-and-wine-at-on-campus-venues/.
- I believe this opportunity exist because who doesn't like to drink and watch football. If someone takes advantage of this there will be a lot of money too be made! Possible customers will be any adults at football games who are of drinking age. Now that it is legal I think this will be very easy for large beer companies to take advantage of this such as offering sponsorship or scholarships at there schools for rights to sell alcohol at the stadium.
- I saw this opportunity because I am a huge football fan and am constantly reading articles about what is going on in college football.
- A regulatory change would be President Trump getting rid of excess regulations on energy sources in the USA.
- I heard about this on talk radio.https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesellsmoor/2019/05/30/trump-administration-rebrands-carbon-dioxide-as-molecules-of-u-s-freedom/#43bc7cb83a24.
- I believe this an opportunity because the first time ever the USA is an exporter of energy. We are now producing more energy than ever before. Now that these regulations have been lifted people can invest in American energy. I believe the most likely customers will be neighboring countries such as Canada and Mexico. I think this will be an easy opportunity for neighboring countries they will be able to buy energy from a neighbor such as Canada buying from the USA
- This can be also tied into me listening to talk radio and thinking outside the box. Not every energy source has to be renewable there is money in other forms of energy.
- Another regulatory change that posses an opportunity would be Brexit which is England leaving the European Union. As they leave there will be opportunities to make new trade deals because of them separating from the EU.
- On talk radio I heard about the constant struggle of England leaving the EU.https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-32810887.
- The opportunity presented would be countries outside of the EU coming to England wanting to do business with them because of canceled deals with the EU. Some potential customers would be the USA and really any country that is not in the EU. This opportunity could be difficult because all neighboring countries will still be part of the EU.
- This has been going on for over two years but the opportunity has just arisen because their prime minister has finally resigned leading too stuff actually getting done now.
Hey Clayton,
ReplyDeleteYou did a really nice job paying attention in Professor Knight's ECO2023 class. Donald Trump's decrease on corporation taxes comes directly from the increase in tariffs on foreign goods. Trump, a president who is known to support a capitalist mindset, will want U.S. residents to be as motivated as possible to get up and go to work and earn money. In order to do this, Trump must open as many doors as possible that would lure Americans into being hard workers.
Great post, Clayton!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your take on the article concerning alcohol sales in SEC stadiums. It was always surprising that there was a ban in the first place considering their is a lot of revenue in alcoholic beverages at sporting events. The UK's plan of Brexit could be a opportunity or it could be a disaster. The United Kingdom currently join an absence of trade restrictions and tariffs in the EU, however once they leave they will not be guaranteed these luxuries.
